12th Annual PICO Instructional Football Camp For Boys Ages 9 - 14

All Positions for All Players: The 2009 Football Camp was a tremendous success! Each year as coaches, we feel we give the kids the fundamentals on how to play and enjoy the game of football. These fundamentals provide a strong foundation which to build on.

PICO's Football Camp is a five day instructional clinic for boys ages 9-14 looking to learn the fundamentals, sportsmanship and skills in the game of football. Youth will learn fundamental techniques and how to play different football positions.

Skill Development and Fundamentals Training in All Positions for All Athletes

These different skill positions include:

  • Quarterback: An in-depth instruction and proper technique includes stance, center exchange,drop back, setting up, footwork, passing, ball handling/fake, roll-out, reading defense, sprint passing, leadership, cadence, presence, release, a team player and more.

  • Running Back: An in depth instruction and proper technique includes QB to RB exchange, running, faking, blocking, footwork, reading defense,motion, receiving, team player, a leader and more.

  • Wide Receivers: An in depth instruction and proper technique on receiver's stance, run and pass blocking technique, footwork, proper hand position, techniques for evading blocks, tackling technique and more

  • Linebackers: An in depth instruction and proper technique in tackling, footwork, evading blocks, open field tackling technique, blitzing, leadership and more

  • Defensive backs: An in depth instruction and proper technique includes stance, avoiding down-field block, open tackling, footwork, blitzing technique, leadership and more

  • D-Line/O-Line: An in depth instruction and proper technique in pass protection, footwork, pass rusher, proper hand position, tackling, avoiding blockers, leadership and more

For Defensive Linemen, Offensive Linemen, Linebackers and Tight Ends

Learn to Play Inside the Trenches: This non-contact camp will teach youth the skills and techniques on how to play in the 'trenches'. It will improve their coordination, strength and mobility that can put them over the edge.

Special focus on:

  • Blocking Techiques
  • Form Tackling
  • Pass Rush
  • Footwork
  • Hand-Speed Techniques
  • Pre-Step Reads
  • Shedding Blockers

Big Man camp features:

Camp is taught by Ace, Ina and friends. The instructors are some of the best local and collegiate coaches, professional and players in the country. This year coaches includes:

  • Bob Boyer - Beaverton High School Head Football Coach
  • Aleki Pascua - Portland State University DL Coach
  • Chet Teofilo - University of Cal Berkley - OT (read Chet's current player bio)
  • Solomona Tapasa - Humbolt State Universtiy- DL Coach and moreŠ

Ace and Ina played for the Legendary PSU coach Pokey Allen in the late 80s. During that time, Portland State won two Western Conference titles and finished second in Division II national championship in 1987 and 1988. The two were a part of a defensive unit that was ranked in the top ten in college football.

Ace Salu: • 1988-89 2 Time Western Conference Champions • Two-time National Runner-up PSU • Played LB, SS, DL. Ace trains youth in sports fundamentals and advanced techniques. He and his wife Paula have three children.

Ina Talalemotu: • Defensive Tackle1987-88 1st Team All Conference Portland State University • Two-time National Runner-up PSU • 1989 NWFL All-Star • 1995 NWFL All American. Ina is a competitive outrigger participant in his spare time. He is married to Megan and has three children.
